Von Rothbart, from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake.

Here is just a personal vision of the evil sorcerer, from Marius Petipa and Noureev's ballet.

I apologize to the purists if I am mistaking about the character.

Je viens pour deux raisons:
La première est que je suis , bien évidemment , épaté par vos travaux! Vous avez un univers graphique vraiment intense , votre maîtrise sur la couleur force l'admiration!
Et la seconde pourrait paraître intéressée , mais elle l'est en aucun cas. :) Voilà j'ai 17 ans et je rêverai , (comme beaucoup d'autres) d'intégrer un jour si possible le monde de l'animation et pour cela intégrer les Gobelins. Ma question est donc la suivante: serait-il possible que vous me renseignez plus sur votre parcours personnel , pour intégrer cette école. (études, et ce qui serait merveilleux, planches que vous avez présenté pour le concours d'admission!). Si vous avez justes deux micro minutes à m'accorder , vous feriez de moi un des plus heureux fans que vous ayez rencontrés ^^ .
En somme , merci d'avance et bonne continuation dans vos travaux!

Irene Flores a dit…: I found these quite by accident a couple of weeks ago, with no clue as to who the artist was. I am delighted to find out not only your name but that you have a blog.

Swan Lake has always been one of my favorite stories, thanks greatly to the character of Rothbart. I remember him very fondly from an old anime. When I started looking for videos of the actual ballet I was astounded at the majestic darkness of some of the Rothbart costumes out there.

These are undoubtedly some of the most beautiful designs I've ever seen. They're perfect, exactly what I think an evil sorcerer ought to look like. I am undoubtedly much more used to the darker, greener, more bluish color scheme usually employed in Rothbart's design but I can't even quibble over that.

The flame-like movement of the robes, the power of the shoulders, the effacing quality of the mask-like face... everything is just perfect.

I hadn't even seen the one in the middle and it's even more breathtaking than the others.
